There are some crazy next generation guys at the Hub…I hear they have had some rockin services already for 2009! I am so excited about what God is doing there under some great next gen pastors, Tweeze, Steve and Terry. There will be great things come from College and 20-Somethings this year!
This week I read Nehemiah 2: 11-18 and noticed some impacting leadership lessons…
Before Nehemiah ever built the wall…he built a team. I thought about my own life, in instances where I felt a dream on my heart or I was given a project or idea to tackle…this is always true: If I you want to go fast, you go alone, but If you want to go far, you go with a team. Name one person with the exception of Jesus who achieved anything significant in life all by himself/herself. You see, everything of significance begins with one person, but nothing of significance can be accomplished by one person.
I believe we all desire to take a journey from ME to WE. We must realize that to be a part of something significant, eternal, impacting…something bigger than ourselves, it can’t be built on the talents of a few, but on the sacrifice and effort of many. Talent is never enough, and ONE is too small a number to achieve greatness. I believe that Nehemiah understood as my good friend John Maxwell says, “Teamwork makes the dream work!”
This has been a historic week for our Nation as we made a transition in the White House. I am thankful for President Bush and his faithful leadership to our country over the past 8 years, and I am preparing my heart for the new season we are walking into. Tuning into the reports from the media, I see there are mixed emotions as many Americans are excited yet some are nervous to see what the next four years will bring. My heart is stirred to respond, as I hope that all believers will, in prayer for our new commander-in-chief. I came across this article in Charisma right after the election that helped guide me in praying for President Obama and his family. Check it out, I pray that it will challenge you also to support our new president.
I took this snapshot of the HPC Arena today, and as I rode by I was reminded of the great weekend that we have planned for Kingdom Builders at HPC. Join us for a powerful moment FRI, JANUARY 23rd from 9:00am-12:00pm as we watch the cross installation atop the Arena. You can watch it via a live streaming webcast of the event right here.
Also, join us for Commitment Weekend (Saturday and Sunday, January 24-25th), when we will be receiving Kingdom Builders commitments for the year of 2009, as we commit to give over and above the tithe to change lives and impact eternity!
I can say, without a doubt, we have some of the best environments at HPC, but this Sunday night was perhaps the most unique I have seen yet. I along with Pastor Johnny and Ms. Claudia had the honor to host a leaders meeting at the Annex where we saw some key HPC Leaders in rare form!!
At one point we had leaders sharing goals and vision for 2009 while only moments before they were in a dance off to break the tie for a team competition. From the following pictures, It may not look like the future of the church is secure with this bunch. But I assure you, I have never seen more passion, creativity, and dedication packed into one place than I have in this meeting. This is a group that is not afraid to get crazy and passionate for Jesus and His work through the local church. On a side note, Kaitlyn Wilson, and her husband Shawn are expecting a baby boy next week! Probably not the best moves to make right before delivery…crazy kids!
This week, I received an update from another HPC expression, one of our newest campues, Healing Place Church Swaziland. They have outgrown thier auditorium, so it’s remodeling time! Once finished, we will be able to seat 400 people every Sunday. Plus new sound and lighting is going to make for a great worship experience. Walls are coming down in many forms and God is continuing to change lives in Africa.
