SERVE Preparations

 Serve Team Preparations

This was the site in the Board Room at the Highland Campus on Monday afternoon.  The looks of this room reminded me about our preparations for Hurricane Relief with Katrina, Rita, and Gustav.  However, a hurricane of a different kind is coming…A category 5 with gale-force winds, scheduled to make land-fall in just 60 hours.  This hurricane won’t destroy and devastate it will bring the love and life of Jesus!  In case you aren’t following…Servolution-a REVOLUTION through serving-begins in only 3 days!!!

JP and our Serve Team along with volunteers and staff have been working round the clock to make this 7 Days of Servolution an incredible win for the Kingdom.  You and your family do not want to miss out on this incredible opportunity to impact your community!  For more information on how to get involved check out Servolution online.  Also, really cool, in May we can expect the release of Pastor Dino’s book, Servolution.  Check it out and be a part.

Kingdom Builders Breakfast

Don’t forget we have a great weekend in store at HPC.  Join us this Saturday Morning, March 28th at 9:00 AM at the Highland Campus for the Kingdom Builders breakfast. Come hear an inspiring message from Guest Speaker Paul Scanlon and enjoy a special breakfast with us! (Childcare will be provided for ages 0-5.)

It is sure to be a great time to hear about the progress of the HPC Arena and all that God has in store for this house.   You will be encouraged to know that some of our very best are hard at work to make sure the Arena is an excellent facility for reaching and ministering to families.  The picture below is solid proof of the brilliant minds that I am talking about!!  See you this Saturday!

Jason Ryder and Michael Griffis…two brilliant minds behind the HPC Arena!

Pathfinders

Last night I had the privilege to speak to the J. High Ministry, Pathfinders.  It was top-notch, exciting, energizing, and a blast!  Our team under Pastor Tyler and Crystal do an amazing job with this age!  We told stories, laughed a ton, and had some serious God-moments.  I was so glad to be a part

Detour Groups

Detour Groups

In the middle of the service the students broke into “Detour Groups” which are lifegroups/break-out groups led by a Pathfinders Leader.  I took some snapshots of these groups…it is priceless to see the kids involvement and excitement for the things of God.

Over 10 years ago, Rachel and I served the youth in Crosswalk…there were many time that I thought we have to build something great…a great youth ministry and a great movement.  Little did I know we were actually building into the next generation youth pastors and leaders that would come after us.  These men and women would be the tools God uses to build and invest in my children…WOW, how humbling!!  I am so grateful for His plans…they are sovereign and perfect in every way!

Life and Relationships

My family and I had a slammin weekend spending time with some incredible people, celebrating relationships and all that God has done!  Friday through Sunday we spent time in Destin, FL at Kristin Stutes and Mark Brinson’s wedding.  What a fantastic celebration it was…everything was beautiful…just perfect.  We are so happy for Mark and Kristin-they are a great couple.

Sunday afternoon we headed to The Grand Hotel in Point Clear, AL to be a part of the Campus Pastors Retreat.  The kiddos tagged along and we all had a blast.  It was so good to share life and relationship with our great Campus Pastors and their wives.  I feel so blessed to do life together and serve our awesome church.

The Power of the Tootsie Pop

Men’s Conference summed up in few words…800 men in attendance, BBQ, mechanical bull, testosterone overload, the HOLY GHOST, volume levels peaked on the crowd mics during worship sessions, amazing guest speakers…Paul Cole, Shawn Alexander, an incredible discussion panel with the legend: Brother Wayne, overall a POWERFUL experience!!

A highlight for me was hearing a story from some of our next gen guys…It involves an awesome experience with Christ and a Tootsie Pop!

So this is how it played out…Our College and 20s from the Hub were out on LSU’s Campus Thursday around lunch giving away free Tootsie Pops to show God’s love in a practical way.  A guy walking by recieved the Tootsie Pop and heard about the Hub gathering that meets each Thursday Night at 8:00 at the HPC Annex.  He was invited to come by some of our guys and decides to show up to the service.  At the Hub he sees a video ad about Men’s Conference (MC09) and decides to register.  (It was probably that Timmy Hayes that convienced him to go!)  So, Friday night he shows up at the Conference.  During the conference that night, this young guy gives his heart to Christ for the first time!!  All because he was handed a Tootsie Pop in Free Speech Alley on Thursday!

As we move into Easter and Servolution…let us not forget the “Power of the Tootsie Pop”…I believe it is a testimony of how God will take something small and seemingly insignificant and do something SUPERNATURAL with it!  It is the power of giving that continually transforms our culture and our city!!  Glory to God!
